The Alps cover parts of Slovenia and offer many walking possibilities. Planinska Zveza Slovenje (The Alpine Association of Slovenia) publishes guidebooks in Slovenian. Guidebooks in German by foreign publishers also exist.
A long distance footpath – part of the E-path E6 – has been created in a north-south direction between the vicinity of Maribor, close to the Austrian border, to the Adriatic sea close to Rijeka. The Alpine Association guidebook contains a summary in German.
Parts of E7 and E12 also pass through Slovenia.
