DESCRIPTION
In the first section of this trail you pas the domain of Pietersheim. This domain is related to the mid-century moated castle of ‘Pietersheim’. On your way to the castle, you pass a petting zoo as a local attraction, and you walk beside the creek ‘Asbeek’. After you pass the moated castle, an alley leads you to the National Park Hoge Kempen.
In the second section, you pass the forest ‘Pietersheimbos’, related to the mid-century castle. The landscape type is mainly (Pine) forest.

In the third section, you are still in the forest of ‘Pietersheimbos’. After you pass the creek of the ‘Asbeek’, you walk up the steep edge of the Hoge Kempen plateau with a height difference of 40 to 50 meters. Also the forest type changes from Pine Forest into Natural Oak-Birch forest. At the end of this section, you climb down the steep edge of the Hoge Kempen.
In the last section, you walk again beside the creek ‘Asbeek’ leading you back to the starting point. On your way back you discover a water mill ‘Heidemolen’, leading you back to the Asbeek into a swampy area. Via narrow paths and boardwalks (5), you reach the end of the trail.
