DIGITAL DeTOUR (Digital DeTOUR through outdoor sport – Nature’s path to digital well-being of young people)

Summary:
Despite bringing number of benefits, rapid technological development and its prevalence in the lives of young people make them exposed to the number of challenges which lead to social isolation, physical and mental health deterioration.
Outdoor sports like hiking, recognized for promoting physical activity, mental health resilience and social inclusion, provide a powerful context for fostering digital well-being among youth.
This is why we have designed Digital Detour application with an aim to establish a sustainable European platform as a benchmark initiative for promoting and fostering digital well-being among young people in and through outdoor sport, enhancing their healthy lifestyle and social inclusion.
We have brought together cross-sectoral and transnational consortium (7 partners from 6 countries involving outdoor sport clubs, European outdoor sport associations, organizations and professionals working on well-being of young people) to the DD initiative (laboratory) to develop widely applicable interdisciplinary solution (antidot) for continuous European action in the field.
Major results:
developed, tested and launched DD curriculum for fostering recognition, recovery and resilience of young people digital well-being in and through outdoor sport and accompanying educational resources;
engaged over 200 stakeholders with the project; empowered 30+ staff and professionals as multipliers behind the DD across Europe;
enhanced digital well-being of at least 300 young people involved in pilot programs;
establish accreditation system as a pathway for outdoor sport clubs and organizations to become certified providers of digital well-being programs and pan-European network, consisting of 30 member organizations, as a point of excellence, collaboration and innovation in the field;
launched web platform;
developed set of policy recommendations for all levels;
enhanced awareness of 250.000 young people and their parents;
reached over 80.000 stakeholders, etc.
