E3 in Slovakia

Route

The route enter Slovakia from the west, from Czech Republic, through Beskydy mountains, heads to the south-east, up to Sedlo pod Hnilickou Kýčerou (Veľká Fatra mountaine ridge), here turns to north-east to Slovak-Polish border. In Poland E3 continues eastward, up to Barwinek. There E3 again step into Slovakia via Dukla pass, goes at first westward along the SK-PL border up to Obručné village, turns east-south, from Prešov town mainly southward, along Slanské vrchy mountains down to the Slovak-Hungarian border. Though both parts of Slovak section of E3 route are relatively short (western part has 218 km, eastern part 296 km), tourists can discover plenty of natural attractions, see several  famous Slovak mountain areas and visit some well-known cultural and historical monuments.

In the Eastern part

  • between Chochuľka and Cemjata, the E3 route runs 33 km in parallel with the  E8 trail.
  • in the Dukla Pass the E3 route meets the E8 route and they continue parallel to Poland.
