On April 4th, 2024, the Fédération Francaise de la Randonnée Pédestre (FFRP) has officially started the Great walk to Paris “Grand randonnée vers Paris”, to the city of the Summer Olympic Games 2024.
Despite bad weather, over 150 walkers met in Perl (D), the neighbouring town of Schengen (LUX), to start the North-East etap of the FFRP event to Paris which should be reached on May 10th.
The festive opening attended the ERA honorary member Joep Naber (NL) to encourage people to walk, but also to highlight the historic moment, as 2.800 years ago the first Olympic Games took place.
“Running was one of the Olympic sports and the basis of this sport is, of course, ….walking!”
On May 11th, the walkers from all corners of France, following 7 routes to the destination Paris will celebrate a successful end of this activity showing that the walking is a very nice physical activity, possible to do anytime, anywhere and by anyone.
