10 New Trails Inspected for Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe, Day Walk Certification
From August 26th to 30th, two inspectors and one student inspector meticulously evaluated ten trails in the Hoge Kempen National Park in Flanders, Belgium. This rigorous inspection was part of the process to certify these trails as “Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe, Day Walk.” The trails, known for their stunning natural beauty and cultural significance, all successfully passed the inspection. However, minor changes and improvements are necessary before they can be officially certified and published.
The inspection covered a variety of landscapes, from heathlands and pine forests to historical mining sites, ensuring each trail meets the high standards required for certification. The trails include unique features such as panoramic views from slag heaps, serene lakes, and remnants of the region’s industrial past, offering hikers an exceptional experience of both nature and history.
The certification process, financed by Tourism Flanders, highlights the commitment to maintaining and promoting high-quality hiking experiences in Europe. Once the recommended improvements are completed, these trails will join the ranks of Europe’s finest, offering day hikers a top-notch outdoor experience.
